How do I clean Roomba's cliff sensors?

Roomba 500 Series "Uh-Oh" Error Codes - Error 12

Roomba automatically senses and avoids cliffs. The "Uh-Oh" sound followed by twelve (12) beeps means that Roomba 500 series experienced a Cliff Sensor error. This can happen if Roomba was started on an uneven surface or got stuck on an obstacle during the cleaning cycle. Extremely dark-colour floor surfaces may also contribute to this error. If this error occurs on an even, light-colour floor surface, Roomba's Cliff Sensors could be dirty or obstructed.

To troubleshoot this issue, please follow these steps:

  1. Check the Cliff Sensors for obstructions.
  2. Clean the Cliff Sensor windows using a clean, dry cloth.
  3. Move Roomba and restart in a new location.
