Pet Owners

Got a pet? That usually means you’ve also got a mess. Our robots do a great job cleaning up pet hair, kitty litter and dry food particles from hard floors, low-to-medium pile carpet, and, now with the iRobot Scooba Floor Washing Robot, we can scrub those dried on paw prints off the floor. Our robots will save you time and stressful labour, keep your floors cleaner, and give you more time to spend with your pets instead of cleaning up after them! Here is one of the many rave reviews by pet owners...

"I love my Roomba! I don't vacuum any longer and I have a dog! My Australian Shepherd sheds constantly and I used to have to vacuum daily. Now I just turn on Roomba and can take the dog out, watch tv or take a break & It is great (better than the vacuum) on pet hair!"

Pet

How will my pet react to my Roomba?
All pets are different. Most pets are initially curious about Roomba but quickly learn to ignore it, play with it or adopt it. We love reading stories and receiving photos from pet owners—if you have one you’d like to share with us please email it to roomba@salton.com.au and we might post it on this page.

How safe is my Roomba?
Roomba and Scooba have special safety features to help keep your pet safe. Their on-board stair-avoiding system prevents them from falling down stairs. Bump sensors prevents them from doing anything more than gently touching your pet, and they automatically stop if they’re lifted from the ground, so noses and paws won't be harmed if a curious pet flips them over. You should keep an eye on your robot the first time you use it around your pet, just in case they get a little too curious or alarmed.

Care and feeding
Our robots are great solutions for homes with pets. They will help you keep your floors clean and free of pet debris every day, with less effort.

The iRobot Roomba Vacuuming Robot does need extra care when used in homes with pet hair. You will need to remove and clean the brushes more frequently than you would in a home without pets. Pet hair can wrap around the axles of the brushes and may shorten the life of your Roomba if you do not completely remove and clean the brushes at least every five uses. You may need to do this step even more frequently if you have many pets or pets with long hair. This is a simple process that takes only a few minutes.
